The Poetry of
Jack Scott

And That’s the End of It

Apple tree grows apple,
apple holds an egg,
egg becomes a worm,
worm becomes a beetle
leaves the apple,
leaves the tree
wanders free as wind,
flies and eats and mates,
finds another apple tree
relieves itself of eggs,
surrenders to the season
and that’s the end of it.
